The
Reel Story
Diving deeper into Project 2021, it's clear that
the whole reel story needed to be shared. There's months of
behind the scene efforts to develop an industry-leading,
completely original
product. Then, bring ground breaking Rip Teazers to the market place.
Design phase kept me up at nights. Test pours of various
sizes, shapes and colors burned the midnight oil. This all
came together on August 12, 2020 when my brain child proved it's
worth. Our soft plastic strips did so on an equal footing
(fish for fish) with fleet accepted traditional
frozen herring bait.
The details of this fish tale is told thru
videos of introduction and testing for the best. Along with several
photos of 3D printed test sizes and a rough sketches that led to the
final product. Transitioning "thoughts on
paper" to the CAD design engineers requires a lot of back and
forth. This is when it pays to be
ultra fussy before final tooling/injection molds are made.
There's only one chance to get it right!
Testing the roll/spin rate is absolutely critical.
At slow speed, let's say, below 2.0, down to 1.2 mph there must be a
roll. This covers when you slow down to fight a big King,
you're not dragging a meat head/strip that goes thru the water like
a dead stick. There has to be a major speed overlap (1 to plus
3 mph), or you'd
never get doubles and triples
